BTCC Driver Profiles - Stefan Hodgetts

Stefan Hodgetts Born: 17 June 1982 , Bromsgrove (West Midlands )

Highly sucessful driver and son of 2 times BTCC Champ Chris Hodgetts, Stefan started karting aged just 4 and entered his first race on his 8th birthday. At 16 he embarked on a sucessful single-seater career, showing well against such names as Kimi Raikkonen. He got a taste of tourers with a test drive in a Ford Focus, and after some more single seater drives he took part in the highly publicised SEAT Cupra championship, screened as part of the Racing Rivals TV series. He joined the BTCC half way through 2004, taking the vacant Team Sureterm drive.

BTCC Career highlights:

2004 BTCC with Team Sureterm. Joined at Mondello halfway through the season then scored a point in the first race at Croft, and with it pole position for the second race of the weekend. Unlucky to be involved in a first corner incident which ended his race, but the potential is certainly there. The team only took one car to Knockhill, but Hodgetts took over the Alfa at Brands Hatch, earning praise for his fast racing but criticism for almost running Shaun Watson-Smith into the pit wall. Tangled with the South African again at Snetterton, though the officials blamed SW-S for this incident. Finished the season in 18th with 4 points.

A rundown of previous seasons will follow soon.
